About me

Hello and welcome to my site.

My name is Angie Tucker, and I live in the West Midlands with my husband, Dave, and 2 grown up sons. I have over 30 years of experience in breeding and exhibiting. For many years I successfully showed and bred Border Collies before venturing into showing Briards. Along with my husband I served as an officer on the committee of the Midland Border Collie Club of GB.

I believe that dogs and cats should have a life outside of the show ring, and to that end my dogs have also competed in obedience and "dabbled" in agility. In 1999 I sustained a serious ankle injury which has greatly reduced my mobility. I could no longer run around a show ring, or do justice to my beloved border collies.

When my old dogs passed on I decided to change breeds to something smaller. I now have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

All my dogs and cats live full time in the house as members of the family, and all kittens are born in the living room with me in attendance. Luckily for me our settee is quite comfy to sleep on!

All babies are raised indoors with all the comings and goings of a normal household. Our dogs and cats all get along famously together and happily share each others beds and play with each others youngsters.

Twenty years ago my husband wanted a break from dogs and dog shows.  He wanted to buy a moggy kitten, but I had always fancied a Persian so we got one of those instead. Our one Persian soon became three persians, and was later joined by an exotic. I showed for a few years and had a couple of litters, but eventually went back to my dogs.

In 2006 I saw and fell in love with the Norwegian Forest Cat. I simply adored their semi long-haired coat, their natural look and superb temperament. I showed pictures of them to my husband and sons who were just as keen as I was so we decided to get one, or maybe two, or even three, well you know how it goes! (We're now up to 8!)

Being a fan of all things myth and magical, I was smitten by the folklore of the NFC (see NFC history page). Two of my favourite mythical beings are Elves and Dragons, and this is reflected in the choice of my stud name which is made up of the words Elven (belonging to an Elf) and Weyr (a place where dragons live).

I class myself as a small hobby breeder and exhibitor. I do not like to keep too many animals as this enables me to give them all individual attention. I currently have around the house, 2 dogs, 12 cats, 2 grown up kids and a husband (all of which I class as family pets and allow to live full-time in the house). Any show or breeding success has always been secondary to the health and welfare of my animals (although any success is always extremely welcome!!!!!!)

Once we have decided to keep an animal it stays with us for life unless there is an extremely exceptional reason why the animal would be better of living in a one pet household. Only then would I consider rehoming it.

When I was heavily involved with border collies a top breeder told me that I would never make it to the top as I was too soft hearted. This was because I would not run on a number of puppies until they were 7/8 months old and then dump the ones that were no good. I replied by saying that if that was what it took to be at the top then I was happy being an "also ran".

All our kittens are inoculated and insured for 4 weeks. They will be registered with the GCCF and registration with TICA can be arranged if desired. All kittens come with a special "welcome to your kitten" pack which includes all the usual paraphernalia plus some toys.

Kittens are available to pet homes and, if I think they are suitable, also for show homes. If you require a kitten for  breeding then I am prepared to discuss this with you.

Any one buying an Elvenweyr kitten will receive as much support as they require for as long as they require it. If you have a question that I can not answer, I will try to find out the answer and get back to you ASAP.

All our babies are very much treasured and I would love to hear how they are getting on, and see a photo when they are all grown up.

I am a member of the NFC club, the Viking Cat club, and the Norskogkatt club.

I am also a keen photographer and have had pictures accepted and gained awards at both club and national level (see the links page for our photography website).
